Consultation on Community Councils

Consultation on Community Councils

Our consultation is open

The council has just initiated the second stage of a public consultation process on the operational framework within which community councils work (the Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils). Please give use your views via the link below:

The first stage of the consultation asked if the boundaries for each community council reflect natural communities of people and what membership numbers should be.

There are two online questionnaires via the link above. One is for people who want to view the proposed Scheme and express their views on any or all aspects of the content. The other specifically invites comment on the key aspects of the proposed Scheme.

The findings from this second stage of consultation will be presented to a meeting of Clackmannanshire Council before the third stage giving people a final chance to comment on any amendments begins.

Feedback from consultation

You can view or download from this page a summary of feedback we received from the public during the first stage of this consultation alongside the Council's response.

Proposed Scheme

The proposed Scheme is available to view or download from these pages and in the consultation database.

The Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils is the document which sets out the governance framework for all community councils in Clackmannanshire. It also includes a description of community council boundaries, how many members each community council has and what the population of each community council area is.

Clackmannanshire Council agreed at its meeting on 12th of January 2017 to undertake a public consultation exercise on the contents of a new Scheme.

Proposals for Boundaries

During the first stage of consultation, there were some suggestions to review boundaries were submitted but there was not strong tide of opinion on the need for change. As a result, Clackmannanshire Council is not proposing any changes to community council boundaries.

Clackmannanshire Council is proposing slight amendments to membership numbers. These are detailed in Paragraph 4 of the proposed Scheme.
