The Council's Finance Services are delivered by two distinct services which collectively provide a broad range of support and advice relating to the Council's finances.

Accountancy Services

  • Budget preparation, budget monitoring, financial accounting:
  • Borrowing, leasing, capital accounting, VAT
  • Financial systems administration

Revenue and Payment Services

2013/14 Budget Summary

The Council's total revenue budget for 2013/14 for all Services other than Council Housing amounts to £115.3 million. This is funded from Government Grants of £90.5 million with £21.6 million coming from the Council Tax and the balance of £3.2 million from earmarked and uncommitted reserves.

The capital programme for General Fund Services for 2013/14 has a gross budget of £16.3 million of which £4.0 million is funded from Government Grant. Over the following 6 years to 2019/20 further investment of £47.3 million has been approved.

Housing Revenue gross expenditure in 2013/14 is £12.4 million. This covers the cost of the Council's housing stock and is fully funded through rental income from council tenants.

The associated HRA/capital programme for 2013/14 amounts to £7.9 million with £30.4 million indicatively approved for the years 2014/15 to 2017/18.
