Clackmannanshire Council Online

Phoenix Centre

Phoenix Centre

The Phoenix Centre provides a variety of courses to develop skills, as well as individual support for people from Clackmannanshire who experience common mental health problems such as depression, anxiety and self-esteem.

Getting started

You will be offered a meeting with one of our qualified community mental health workers. We will work with you, helping you to identify the areas which are giving you difficulties and exploring what the best way forward may be.

What we offer

A variety of courses including:

  • Stress/anxiety management
  • Depression management
  • Self esteem work
  • Assertiveness

The above courses are best delivered in a group setting, but we can work on an individual basis if required. We try to be flexible, e.g. early evening work to meet your personal circumstances.

The team also provides one to one cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for more complex mental health problems.

CBT is a talking therapy. It looks at the way we think about a situation and how it affects the way we feel and the way we act. In turn, our actions affect how we feel and how we think. The therapist works with you to help you change your thinking patterns and/or behaviours. CBT focuses on the here and now. Instead of focussing on the causes of the problems in the past, it is concerned with how you think and act now.

The length of time that support is offered will depend on your own circumstances; everyone is different, but on average these can last from 6 - 12 weeks. We will work with you as an individual to provide the right support for you. You will always be involved in all aspects of your support, and you will also have the opportunity to get involved in the development of the Phoenix Centre and the wider Integrated Mental Health Service. We value your opinion and views and use feedback to identify areas where we can improve services.
