The University of Stirling is pleased to welcome you to a literary event with Robin Robertson, author of The Long Take which was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize in 2018.
At this special event, you will have the opportunity to hear Robin Robertson read extracts from his book before taking part in a question and answer session. He will also be signing copies of The Long Take after the reading, and the book will be available to buy on the night.
The Booker Prize Foundation Universities Initiative is an international scheme designed to encourage students to read contemporary fiction. Funded by The Booker Prize Foundation and the University of Stirling, each new first year undergraduate student will receive the gift of a free copy of Robin Robertson's acclaimed book, which was shortlisted for The Man Booker Prize in 2018.
Author Robin Robertson was brought up on the north-east coast of Scotland and now lives in London. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, he has published five collections of poetry and has received a number of honours, including the Petrarca-Preis, the E.M. Forster Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and all three Forward Prizes. His selected poems, Sailing the Forest, was published in 2014.
The Long Take (2018) won the Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction, the Goldsmiths Prize for innovative fiction and the Roehampton Poetry Prize; it was the first poem to be shortlisted for the Booker Prize.
