Clackmannanshire Council is committed to the elimination of unlawful discrimination, advancing equality of opportunity and fostering good relations between people.

We believe that equality of opportunity should be a guiding principle in all of our activities. We are actively working towards the elimination of policies and practices which discriminate and are opposed to any form of discriminatory practices on grounds including:

We aim to ensure that our commitment to equality is embedded in all council services and in the organisations we fund.

Legal Framework

The Council is committed to adhering to the principles of domestic legislation as presented in the following Acts:

Equality Act 2010

Outlaws discrimination in employment on the grounds of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, pregnancy, maternity, race (which includes colour, nationality and ethnic or national origin), sexual orientation, religion or belief or because someone is married or in a civil partnership.

The Equality Act outlaws discrimination by those providing goods and services on the grounds of disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity (which includes breastfeeding), race, religion or belief sex and sexual orientation.
